Are there non-religious answers to connecting with non-physical souls?

Yes.
You are information carried by energy and you are currently housed in a flesh body while you acquire the information of multi-dimensional living.
This information of multi-dimensional living comes to you through the body’s senses of sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell.
In addition you learn about emotions and feelings.
Each of these things is a dimension.
All dimensions converge on the physical plane which is the reason for the creation of all things and the chaos of the environment.
At the end of the physical life cycle, the body will die and You as the sum of all your information, will be released into the conscious universe of all information.
You will no longer have any matter component associated with you but instead you will be the recorded image of the person you thought you were. You will look exactly like you think you do. You will sound exactly like you think you sound. Your thoughts, ideas, beliefs, memories, knowledge, personality and character will all be intact and come with you.
You will live as assembled information in an ethereal form, a spiritual form if this helps you, until you decide to surrender your information and sleep. Your new life will be spent in thought. You will live in your thoughts, new thoughts, old thoughts, memories and even in the shared thoughts with others you wish to connect your information to.
If you decide to surrender your information, any other information being will be able to access your information and even project your image and speak in your voice. They will be able to become you.
Your information will always be yours; you are the author. But you do not have to be present in your own information stream. You can shut off your awareness of your information.
While you own your information, you can choose to sleep in which case you will be encased in darkness and no other thought being (information being) will be able to contact you.
As mortals on earth are also information beings in flesh, they can contact those who are no longer flesh and those who are no longer flesh can reach out to the mortal world and speak with flesh beings.
A flesh being who receives messages from a non-flesh being is called a conduit and the non-flesh being is most usually considered to be a spirit.
But they are an information being (Energy Information Being) as their information carries a vibration.
If you wish to connect with a spirit, soul, Energy Information Being, try speaking to one in your mind. Your mind is a portal to the conscious universe where all information is stored.
By contemplation and self-surrender I have been and still am seeking unity and wholeness with the divine and the spiritual knowing of truths that are beyond the human intellect. I am in daily communication with the House of Christ, I channel other spirits, I receive and still seek higher knowledge and higher understanding of the mind and creation. Therefore, I call myself a mystic.

Why has neuroscience not settled the question of free will?

All of man’s science is based on physical proof. What physical properties does the will have? Can you hold it in your hand? Can you pour it on to your cereal? Have you ever heard/read of any doctor, especially a surgeon who removed the will of a patient when they removed their tonsils? Performed a heart transplant, Removed a bad kidney, removed gall stones or performed brain surgery? Human science will not find the physical evidence of the will nor will they ever produce the physical proof of a spirit. (Even though ghosts can be captured on cameras. Technology makes this evidence speculative and open to interpretation.) Human science will also never produce a mind or the thoughts that a mind contains. Is Divinity a gift or that which is already within you?

Thank you for your question. I will not say that divinity is not already within you but we may not perceive, interpret or understand divinity in the same way. My understanding of divinity is a sublime state, a superior state, a state of perfection and holiness.
