What attracted you to mysticism?

To be honest, I wasn’t attracted to mysticism.
I work as a scribe for my sister, who is a psychic. She gives readings to people (palm and soul) and she investigates haunted properties and assists in finding missing people and solving cold cases for law enforcement.
When it came to fill out my profile on Quora, because I do not feel I am a psychic as my sister is, I did not want to put down psychic. I was really confused as to what I am until I read a question that said, “Why do you call yourself a mystic?” I liked the word “mystic” and looked it up.
The Oxford Dictionary defines a mystic as: a person who seeks by contemplation and self-surrender to obtain unity with or absorption into the Deity or the absolute, or who believes in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect.
I examined who I am and realized that by contemplation and self-surrender, I have been and still am seeking unity and wholeness with the divine and the spiritual knowing of truths that are beyond the human intellect.
I am in daily communication with the House of Christ, I channel other spirits, I receive and still seek higher knowledge and higher understanding of the mind and creation.
Therefore, I call myself a mystic.
My whole “thing” is communicating with those who have passed on and the quest for knowledge concerning the afterlife and the conscious universe. This is what I devote myself to.
I do not interact with spirits trapped in the physical plane, but with spirits who have crossed over into the next plane and the spirits I seek to contact are those of a higher order; those with a benevolent purpose. Those who would be considered divine. However in the course of my pursuits I have met other spirits who are also benevolent but are (or were) ordinary people or celebrities.
I do not seek the lower planes of consciousness, but the higher planes of consciousness.
To my understanding of mysticism, I am exploring the mystical and I am a mystic.
This has been my journey since the mid 80’s.
