Is nonduality simply an idealistic philosophy? What practical purpose does non-dual enlightenment serve in the (imperfect) real world? Why is pursuing egocide virtuous according to these spiritual traditions?
To experience being without judgment is
the purpose.
Right now, you
exist because you are aware you exist.
You are aware
there is a you. You know your name and all the information about you. You know
where you live, what you like to do, how you live and so on.
But to experience
being without personifying it, is the purpose of non-duality.
It is a response
to the oneness theory which states that we are all one and one is all.
Without a
subjective point of view and an individual perspective, we are merely awake but
we are not aware.
We do not respond
to anything because only awareness can respond. We are simply staring. We are
empty. Yet we are being in a pure state that is not corrupted by perception.
Perception comes
from awareness.
Awareness creates
corruption because awareness proves itself by showing us opposites.
While awake, we
know nothing.
While aware, we
now know something.
Some thing is the
opposite of no thing.
While we retain
individual perspective (awareness) we are not ONE.
We are still a
part of ONE because ONE is the stream of consciousness to which we belong
because we are conscious beings.
But we are each an
individual wave in the stream of consciousness as long as we retain individual
perspective.
The conscious
universe (or stream) at its highest end is awake but not aware. Awareness
begins the waves that are below the stillness of awakeness.
This plane of
awakeness is said to be the beginning and the end of the conscious universe
where all of creation comes from.
To meet this plane
of awakeness is to meet with God.
Everything below
this is a perspective; it is not pure but an individual thought all its own.
Through
surrendering awareness, we are clearing our minds to receive pure
consciousness, “God” that is without identity or awareness, but is fully awake.
As we travel the
millions of waves beneath God, we meet all the thoughts there ever were and all
the perceptions that were ever recorded.
Once we surrender awareness and
become pure wakefulness, we can interchange with all of the recorded information
in the conscious universe.
